Mentoring Meetings in SBRC’19
In 2019, SBRC will adopt for the first time the idea from ACM SIGCOMM [A] of mediating mentoring meetings between grad students and known researchers, besides those available in their home institutions. A student may apply for a 1-on-1 meeting with researchers to discuss ideas, which could be a thesis proposal or simply an idea the student is working on.

The process
Following the molds of SIGCOMM 2016, we consider two types of mentoring meetings:
Formal meetings: the student will have 15 minutes to present his/her work for a team of mentors. After the presentations, there will be a 15 minutes to discuss comments from mentors (the meeting will have 30 minutes time). We encourage students to bring slides to present their ideas. However, this meeting is not a talk, the focus should be discussing ideas and receiving constructive comments from mentors.
Informal meetings: the focus of this meeting is for students chat with their mentors. We will schedule 15 minute 1-on-1 meetings between students and mentors. Students may consider these meetings an opportunity to have a structured talk about their work, and receive directions, positions and comments on other aspects of their work.
How to apply
To apply, please fill in this form: https://forms.gle/ap1FQD1F9kKooP7A6.
Your application will be reviewed to guarantee it fits the scope of SBRC. We will then try to allocate mentors with experience in your line of research. The form allows to suggest mentors and the type of meeting, yet the final decision will also consider mentors availability.
Where will meetings take place
Informal meetings will be scheduled between technical sessions intervals. Formal meetings will be scheduled in rooms with projectors according to mentor and students availabilities.
