Presentation and Objectives<\/strong><\/h1>\n

The Brazilian Symposium on Computer Networks and Distributed Systems (SBRC) is the most important forum of the research and development community in Computer Networks and Distributed Systems in Brazil. Short courses are among the main technical activities of SBRC, which aim to address topics not typically covered in the regular curricula or that could spark off great interest among academics and professionals. Proposals in recent or yet underexplored areas and in areas with the potential to attract the interest of students and professionals to better qualify them for their research and\/or job are welcome. Short courses covering the topics suggested in the Call for Papers for SBRC 2019 or others that the authors consider appropriate can be submitted. Each submitted proposal will be evaluated by three or more members of the evaluation committee. The following criteria will be considered in the evaluation: relevance and timeliness for the event, technical quality of the proposal, and the proponents experience in the chosen theme. The best proposals on different topics will be accepted for presentation and publication.<\/span><\/p>\n

Text Book<\/strong><\/h1>\n

Authors of selected courses should produce a chapter for publication in the book \u201cShort courses SBRC 2019\u201d. The chapter should be written in Portuguese or English and contain between 40 and 50 pages, following the template made available by the SBC, in www.sbc.org.br, Documents section -> Publications -> Templates for Articles and Book Chapters.<\/span><\/p>\n

Submission of Proposals<\/strong><\/h1>\n

Professors and researchers interested in ministering a short course should submit a proposal consisting of 6-8 pages (excluding CVs \u2013 item 6 below) containing the information listed below. The document with the proposal and the CVs should be provided in one file. Each accepted short course will be allocated a three to four hours slot during SBRC 2019.<\/span><\/p>\n

      1. Objectives of the course and presentation approach of the topic (e.g., theoretical or practical, an overview of results or further development of specific aspects, presentation or comparison technologies, training for new skills or information, etc.)<\/span><\/li>\n
      2. Target group<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
      3. Structure of the planned text (course outline, topics\/chapters covered)<\/span><\/li>\n
      4. For each topic\/chapter provided in item 3, provide a summary of the contents to be addressed and an estimate of the expected number of pages <\/span><\/li>\n
      5. Main Bibliography used while preparing the course (maximum 1 page)<\/span><\/li>\n
      6. Curriculum Vitae of the authors (maximum of 1 page per author)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
