{"id":1227,"date":"2019-01-09T15:19:33","date_gmt":"2019-01-09T15:19:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sbrc2019.sbc.org.br\/?page_id=1227"},"modified":"2024-10-01T23:30:17","modified_gmt":"2024-10-02T02:30:17","slug":"workshop-de-computacao-urbana-courb","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sbrc2019.sbc.org.br\/en\/workshop-de-computacao-urbana-courb\/","title":{"rendered":"WORKSHOP OF URBAN COMPUTATION (COURB)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 align=\"justify\"><strong>Presentation<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p align=\"justify\">Today, more than half of the world&#8217;s population lives in urban areas. United Nations&#8217; projections suggest that urban growth will reach over 60% of the world&#8217;s population by 2030, when one in three people will be living in cities with more than half a million inhabitants. This process of increasing urbanization, while enabling better living conditions for people, it brings enormous challenges of urban planning to support a sustainable growth. As cities grow, more complex problems must be faced, such as management of collective spaces, air pollution, congestion, scalable provision of basic services (water, energy, sanitation, mobility), quality of life, and more. In order to enable the implementation of intelligent solutions for such problems, Urban Computing emerges as a process of acquisition, integration, and analysis of a large amount of heterogeneous data generated from different sources in urban spaces (portable devices, sensors, vehicles, humans). In this context, Urban Computing is an interdisciplinary area which connects information and communication technology, advanced management of huge volumes of data and several methods for analyzing collected data. To better plan the future of cities and improve the quality of life of its inhabitants, Urban Computing seeks to understand the nature of urban and social phenomena.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">The III Workshop of Urban Computing (III CoUrb) aims to create a space for: (1) presentation and discussion of studies in the area\u037e (2) collaboration between researchers from different areas that, given the interdisciplinary nature of Urban Computing, it is not limited to Computer Science. The III CoUrb will be held during the XXXVII Brazilian Symposium on Computer Networks and Distributed Systems (SBRC 2019), in the city of Gramado \u00ad RS, Brazil. Papers can be written in Portuguese or English, and submitted in PDF format only. Each paper is limited to 14 pages, including abstract, figures, diagrams, references and attachments. Papers must be formatted following the SBC template.<\/p>\n<p>Submitted papers will be evaluated by peer reviewers from the CoUrb\u2019s Technical Program Committee. Selected papers will be organized for presentation and publication in the proceedings of the event. At least one of the authors of each selected paper must register in the SBRC 2019 and III CoUrb, as well as attend the event to present the paper.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Publication and Presentation Format<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>All selected papers will be published as full papers in the proceedings of the III CoUrb. Depending on the number of selected papers and the typical duration of the Workshop (one day only), the paper presentation in the technical sessions may occur in two different formats: (1) regular oral presentation\u037e and (2) short oral presentation plus poster presentation.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Best Paper Award<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The Technical Program Committee will announce the best papers during the event, and the authors will be awarded with certificate and prize.
